Peter Roe Appointed General Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse

Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) today announced the appointment of Peter Roe as General Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse.  Peter has been acting Manager at the course since October 2010.

Following graduation from Limerick University in 1996 in Equine Science, Peter worked as Pupil Assistant to Sussex Trainer John Dunlop for 2 years. He worked as Assistant Manager in Fairyhouse Racecourse for 2 years under Roy Craigie and later Dick Sheil before being appointed as Manager of Tipperary racecourse where he served for ten years. During this time he gained a honours MBA from the University of Limerick in 2009. Peter is married to Alison and they have 3 children.

Peter Roe, Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse said: - “I am delighted to have the opportunity to manage such a prestigious racecourse as Fairyhouse. It has been a great opportunity working there for the last twelve months as Acting Manager with such a hard working team and committee.  I really enjoyed my time at Tipperary racecourse and wish them continued success.  I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and I believe the outlook for Fairyhouse is bright.”

Brian Kavanagh, Chief Executive of HRI said: - “I am delighted that Peter has been appointed as Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse. As one of Ireland’s five Premier tracks this is an important position and Peter brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the equine, racecourse and business world. I wish him every success in this role.”

Pat Byrne, Chairman of Fairyhouse Racecourse said: - “I would like to wish Peter all the best as Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse, as the home of the prestigious Ladbrokes Irish Grand National at Easter this is a very important position. Preparations are under way for the upcoming two-day Winter Festival on the 3rd & 4th of December featuring Bar-One Racing three Grade 1 races.”
