What the trainers say for Sunday at Fairyhouse

Monday, 1 January 1

Mouse Morris

Rathlin – Powers Gold Cup

He seems to be well at home and I’m be hoping that he’ll run a big race. He has done well for us this season and I think the good ground will suit him.

Peter Casey

Flemenstar – Powers Gold Cup

He seems to be in great order, but the ground will have to be good – if there is any firm in it, he won’t run. This race has been the plan all year and they normally do a good job up watering, but you don’t want to take a risk with a horse like him. We will have a look at it beforehand. He has been in great form since Naas and the runner up won at the weekend so we are looking forward to it.

Jim Culloty

Lord Windermere – Coolmore NH Sires Ask & Gateway Novice Hurdle

He won well the last day at Naas and he has come out of that race in great form. He is crying out for two and a half miles and he should get away with good ground over today’s trip. I would be hoping that he runs a big race.

Peter Fahey

Pride Of The Artic – INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle

We were very disappointed with him the last day, but he seems to be in very good form again now. He gets the trip well and he’ll enjoy the good ground. We’d be hopeful of a very good run from him.

Conor O’Dwyer

Competitive Edge – Russell Restaurant Navan Novice Handicap Hurdle

He is getting better all the time and I was delighted with him the last day at Navan. He should handle the ground and he seems to be in super form and he is learning all the time. He is a lovely horse to have in the yard and as long as the ground is safe, he’ll run.

Kildare Blowin – Ryan’s Cleaning Specialists Beginners Chase

He has a high enough mark, but it looks a typical end of season beginners chase. He jumps super and Ben (Dalton) gets on well with him. He likes good ground and he jumps well and I’d be hoping that he runs a nice race.

Gordon Elliott

His Excellency – Coolmore NH Sires Ask & Gateway Novice Hurdle

He has come out of Cheltenham in good shape and I’m happy with him. He has done well for us this season and I think he’ll like the good ground. We are stepping him up to two and a half miles, but it looks a very good race and I’d be happy if he collected some place money.

Lord Redsgirth – Ryan’s Cleaning Specialist Beginners Chase

He likes good ground and he jumps well, so I’d be hoping for a good run for him. He has run a couple of nice races over fences and he seems to be in good form at home. With a bit of luck he’ll run a good race.

Eddie Harty

Dressedtothenines – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Novice Hurdle

She seems to be in great form and the bad ground caught her out the last day at Limerick. She won’t have any trouble with the ground today and she seems to be improving and with a bit of luck, I think she’ll run a big race.

In Bloom – Russell Restaurant Navan Novice Handicap Hurdle

She likes a bit of an ease, so I just hope the ground won’t be too fast for her. She seems well and she ran okay the last day at Navan. She has a nice weight on her back and I hope that she runs a good  race.
